ChatGPT app, Vision Pro uses, Google VR &AR

To VR & AR enthusiasts.

Welcome our first edition of Futurescape - a 5 minutes daily newsletter focused on what is happening in the Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) world.

Here is what we got today:

  • Things you can do with Apple Vision Pro

  • The world of Google VR and AR

  • ChatGPT app for Vision Pro

Let’s get started.

Apple Vision Pro’s Promises

The new kid (I mean headset) in the block is barely a month old. The early adopters have already part with $3,500 to get their hands on this spatial computing device - Apple prefers we call it as such.

With reviews popping across social channels and other users taking a walk with their Vision Pro on, Apple is promising the use cases to be more than fancy headsets as it combines virtual reality and augmented reality into one.

As per Times of India report, we current have ten uses cases of Apple Vision Pro headset. Check this out;

  • Turn you into an interior decorators

  • Take movies and watching a notch higher

  • Bring your images to life from iCloud library

  • Your full-time translator

These are some of the many use cases - apart from the weird one trending on social. One that caught my eye from Reddit is this guy in the NYC subway. Probably catching up with some of those unread message we tend to ignore.

The World of Google VR and AR

The light is shining on Apple brighter as a far VR and AR goes. However, another giant making moves in the space - under the radar though is Google. It has paved way for consumers and developers in multiple fronts.

Here are some innovations worth noting;

ARCore - Google’s platform for building AR apps on Android. It uses three key technologies to integrate virtual content with the real world: motion tracking, environmental understanding, and light estimation.

It enables smartphones to detect angles and distances, This allows for realistic object placement and movement.

Daydream - Google’s VR platform, offering a rich virtual experience through compatible smartphones and the Daydream View headset. Although Google has since discontinued the Daydream hardware, the software legacy continues to influence VR development.

OpenAI’s ChatGPT app for Vision Pro

The Open AI team released a ChatGPT app for Vision Pro a couple of days ago. The app allows users to chat with ChatGPT 4 Turbo model - the latest and most capable version of its natural language processing system.

Vision Pro users can do the following with the app:

  • Ask questions

  • Get answers

  • Learn about new topics

  • Generate images and texts directly in the app

With this release, ChatGPT becomes one of the first 600 new apps that have been built into the VisionOS app store.

Future’s Quick Hits
